from the NY times-
BACK ON DRUGS As a test of airport security, a customs officer planted marijuana in the side pocket of a random suitcase at Narita International Airport in Tokyo, the BBC reports (news.bbc.co.uk).

The test failed when the sniffer dogs were unable to detect the pot. But the officer could not remember which bag he had used.

Using an actual passenger’s suitcase is against regulations, and the airport’s customs service has apologized.

Meanwhile, the marijuana is still out there. “Anyone finding the package has been asked to contact customs officials,” according to the BBC. So far, nobody has spoken up.

one of the great joys in life is dating a newly lapsed vegan. it's kind of like dating someone who's been in prison for ten years, or maybe like that mira sorvino movie where the blind guy gets his vision back. everything is new and exciting to them, and you rediscover your own love of things that you had long taken for granted. i mean, vegans really can't eat anything. meat, cheese, cake, ice cream- all the foods i hold near and dear to my heart. most people have worked their way through all the regular foods, or are picky eaters that are no fun about trying new things. so if you want to impress them with a new cuisine, you have to look pretty hard. i get to be like, "turkey sandwich! bacon! hot dog!" and its like christmas dinner. whatever that's like. it's especially enjoyable when they're really cute and seeing them get so excited makes you really happy.
according to NY1, nyc may get double decker buses soon instead of those extra long buses. sweet!

good morning, blog. did you have a good night? the dargerism exhibit was awesome, i was so glad i went. i mean, i really preferred looking at the actual darger works to the work that was influenced by him, but it was cool to see how influential a guy can be posthumously after a very solitary life. and it was crazy to hear about all the books he wrote. thousands and thousands of pages, these grand epics about battles to free all of these enslaved children. on a side note, i would looove to hear what psychologists say about his work, because there is so much about childhood and girls underlying it. and girls with penises. but also, it really makes you think about the purpose of art. it's crazy to think about this guy writing these thousands and thousands of pages, and he's really just writing it for himself. he just wanted to write a story, to create something, and didn't care whether anyone ever saw it. its the kind of thing that makes you want to start making beautiful things in all your spare time. oh well, maybe next week.

well, anonymous commenter, you really called me out. and i know its true, i have let the blog slip. its one of those things that, the more time passes, the more you think a post has to be flippin awesome to make it. if its any kind of valid excuse, i've been having one of those relationship things, and its taken up a lot of the energy and time i would have used writing my random thoughts. but she's away right now, so i'm returning to my roots with a post.
california just ruled that gays can get married. that's exciting, though not particularly to me. i understand that its about taxes and legal rights and hospital visitation and stuff like that, not just about wanting to hop on to some straight trend, but i still think change should be happening sort of in the other direction. call me a radical youth, but i think that marriage is an outdated institution in general, and civil union-type things should become the norm.
okay i have more to write but i'm getting overwhelmed. my sister's museum is having a party for its new dargerism exhibit tonight. interesting story, darger was this janitor or something, this total recluse with no friends or family. and then when he died they discovered all of this amazing art that he had produced. and then he influenced a lot of artists. also he didn't know what little girls bodies looked like so he drew penises on them. so yeah, 5:30-9 pm. check it out.
